What stayed
A hackathon is over after 48 hours. Some of what started there kept going.
From hackathon team to start-up: Dratuti and Tvarit
In 2017, team Dratuti won the NTT DATA challenge with a machine-learning model that predicts car-sharing demand. A visit to NTT DATA’s Munich office and start-up space followed – and contacts that lasted.
Team member Rahul Prajapat went on to co-found Tvarit GmbH, a company building industrial AI software for manufacturing, developing the product conceptualised at the Hackathon Stuttgart. When he met our moderator again at Hannover Messe 2019, he shared the story.
Exported to Bremen
After supporting the 2017 organisation, our sister company encoway brought the concept to the north: the first Hackathon Bremen took place in February 2018 at Kraftwerk – City Accelerator Bremen, with 14 teams and partners such as Lenze and Airbus.
School teams
From 2017, students of the Stiftsgymnasium Sindelfingen and the Ferdinand-Porsche-Gymnasium Zuffenhausen hacked alongside professionals – with their own night break and plenty of curiosity.
What sponsors said
“It’s great to see how this format has evolved over the past years. Especially in times of digital transformation and agile teams, the Hackathon Stuttgart shows clearly how quickly interdisciplinary teams can transfer an idea into a minimum viable product.”
“The creativity, the team spirit and the ability to execute that’s been shown here during those two days is always inspiring and clearly shows how products are going to be developed in the future.”
“Every year we’re excited about the discussions, solutions and prototypes of the teams. At car2go, we use this input to validate future changes, features and ideas to improve our product.”
“The Stuttgart Hackathon is a great opportunity for us, as a business, to gain insights into the future of work. We supported the Hackathon – but it has supported us in our aims as well.”
“We sponsored the Hackathon in 2016 for the first time. Our expectations were exceeded. Exactly that spirit of discovery and invention makes the event something special.”
“We’re really taken with the high number of good attendees and notice that nearly all teams could implement and present their ideas.”
